Southern Oregon
Southern Oregon's High Cascade Mountains are a mecca for outdoor
enthusiasts. It's a mountain wonderland raised by volcanism and
carved by glaciers that offers some of the best biking, climbing,
hiking, camping, horseback riding, snowshoeing, downhill and cross
country skiing, hunting, fishing and river rafting. Southern Oregon
is also home to Crater Lake National Park, known as the "Gem of
the Cascades."
Rogue Valley
The Rogue River Valley of southern Oregon is one of the most beautiful and livable areas of the Pacific
northwest, if not the country. Located in Jackson County, the valley is just north of the California
border and is surrounded by the majestic Cascade and Siskiyou Mountains. It is centrally located along
Interstate 5, between Seattle and San Francisco and just hours from the Pacific Ocean coastline and
the Redwood Forest. Both Money Magazine and the AARP rank the rogue valley in the top ten places in
the country to retire.
The valley offers breathtaking scenery in every direction, a healthy and growing economy and moderate
weather all of which contributes to a superior quality of life for the people fortunate enough to
call it home.
Jacksonville Oregon
The town of Jacksonville is located seven miles west of Medford and fifteen miles north of Ashland.
It's one of the most historically significant communities in the western United States.
Jacksonville is rich with antique and specialty shops, cozy inns, museums and other historic
attractions. In fact, the entire town of Jacksonville was designated a National Historic Landmark
in 1966 by the U.S. Department of the Interior.
More than eighty individual buildings are on the National Register of historic places. Many of the town's
inns and bed & breakfast hotels are historic landmarks, giving the feel of an old west Gold Rush town.
Jacksonville has successfully preserved its historically significant
architecture and charm and celebrates it by sponsoring a wide range
of events and activities for all age groups throughout the year
such as the Food & Vintage Wine Festival, Pioneer Day, The Rogue
Valley Growers' Crafters market, Trolley Tours and other arts and
crafts shows.
But it is the Britt Festival that put Jacksonville on the national festival map. Now in its 42nd year,
the festivals are the Pacific Northwest’s most prestigious outdoor summer concerts and one of the
largest music festivals in the United States. Named for the famed 19th century photographer,
Peter Britt, the concerts feature world class artists in classical, jazz, blues, folks, bluegrass,
world, pop and country music. The venue is a natural amphitheater formed by majestic ponderosa pines
and native madrones on Peter Britt’s beautiful hillside estate. Tens of thousands of music lovers
travel from all over the country to enjoy the Britt’s world class performances set in spectacular
scenery and a casual, relaxing atmosphere.
